About the library

The University Library is the academic centre of education. It organises access to national and world science collections and services both in the traditional and digital way. The library offers different types of documents: books, newspapers, digital editions, precious, special collections of national and European collection value (manuscripts, old prints, cartographic and graphic documents) as well as music, audiovisual collections, social life documents, technical books, standards and patents.

The way the space of the library, collection and service are organised carries out the popular idea of the open library where the contact of the reader and the book is not restricted by space and organisational barriers. In this concept, readers have direct access to books and services planned in allotted areas of knowledge. They can make use of the printed and online collections and have access to the rich information service based on modern technology.

In the complex, there are about 450 posts for individual and group work, for training, seminars, teaching work, science and cultural meetings as well as for artistic activities. Readers can use computer stands situated in the whole area of the library: in the free access area, in the multimedia and computer labs, in the individual work booths and rooms for group work. The building is accommodated for the needs of the persons with disabilities.
