Graphics Gallery of the Fine Arts Library

The Artotheque of Graphics program has been organizing, for 13 years, a series of exhibitions, lectures, meetings and open discussions with the participation of the most outstanding Polish artists of many generations, associated with various academic centers in the country. The program and calendar of exhibitions and meetings is determined by the Program Council, consisting of artists-educators of the ISW. The above initiative is aimed at familiarizing students of our university with the current issues of graphic art, with its multimedia connections, as well as getting to know the authors. The exhibitions are in the form of individual shows, combined with lectures and workshops open in monthly cycles to the entire academic community, the local community and interested people from outside, as well as cultural and artistic institutions of the city and region. The Fine Arts Library has organized about 100 solo and group exhibitions by, among others, Jan Berdyszak, Izabella Gustowska, Jozef Jankovič, Wojciech Müller, Piotr Szurek, Marian Szpakowski and others. Since 2006, the Art Library has been cooperating with the Association of International Graphic Triennials.

The Collection of Artworks was established in 2001, and includes works of painting, printmaking, drawing, photography, as well as video and other forms of art. The collection consists of a collection of about 300 inventory units, which are works by contemporary Polish and foreign artists; the works were acquired as donations. The collection includes works by, among others: Toin Horvers, Jozef Jankovič, Iiři Andrelle, Stanislaw Fijalkowski, Jan Berdyszak, Jan Pamula, Antoni Zydron, Tadeusz Jackowski, Izabella Gustowska, Ryszard Otręba, Andrzej Gieraga, Andrzej Pietsch, Marian Szpakowski and Jerzy Grabowski.
The Collection's peculiarities include a Rosen painting sketchbook from 1888-1891 and a shroud from the late 18th century - a woodcut on fabric from the Bachkov Monastery in Bulgaria, as well as concrete poetry by Henri Chopin, published by him in London.

The Art Documentation and Information Department is a component of the Artotheque of Graphics and complements the Fine Arts Library. It cooperates with Polish and foreign galleries. It exchanges art documentation and archival materials from galleries that have ceased their activities. All materials are acquired in the form of donations.

MATERIALS FROM MEETINGS, LECTURES AND OPEN ACTIVITIES

Regardless of the individual exhibitions of graphics and meetings held with their authors, the organization of MEETINGS IN THE LIBRARY with artists representing various attitudes and media, as well as with prominent experts on current art issues, has begun. The selection of artists is designed to showcase issues in graphic art and present a variety of media and their role in promoting art.

The Fine Arts Library conducts the project Graphics against the background of art of the 20th and 21st centuries and articulation problems in new media art. The Fine Arts Library, integrates the artistic circles of the city and the region, popularizes the Fine Arts Library in scientific, artistic circles in the country, as well as abroad.

Invitations and information about exhibitions, lectures and meetings are sent to galleries and art press, cooperating with the library. The series of exhibitions and meetings are an additional enrichment of the didactic process for the students of the Institute of Visual Arts and interested people from outside (cultural institutions of the city and region).

The Fine Arts Library publishes catalogs of exhibitions, regularly cooperates with the Monthly Magazine of the Academic Community "University of Zielona Gora", where it successively publishes information about the activities of the Art Library Graphics Library. The activities of the Fine Arts Library go far beyond the accepted framework of the activities of a specialized library, as the Fine Arts Library of Art Library Graphics requires cooperation with artists and professors from various academic and artistic centers in the country and abroad.
