The Special Collections Department collects and preserves such categories of library collections as old prints, 19th-century books, manuscripts, cartography, antiqua and contemporary graphics, posters, postcards, ex-librises, bibliophile and ephemeral prints, and doctoral theses defended at the University of Zielona Gora. We are engaged in supplementing, formal and subject processing and making existing collections available to interested audiences in dedicated reading rooms. We cooperate with the Zielona Gora Digital Library by typing collections for digitization and developing metadata. We organize presentations of collections and exhibitions, promote knowledge of the value of regional and national heritage. At the request of other libraries and cultural institutions, we lend some categories of collections for exhibition and research purposes.
